Oh, your turns of phrase make me chuckle - in appreciation of your writing and in self recognition.

Lovely post, Linda! It's a crazy time of year, isn't it? I adore spring, though. Well, when it's spring-y! Over here we get lulled into a false sense of security whenever the sun comes out.... and then British weather reminds us that we're supposed to be having April showers right now and it then rains for three days straight.

We're having an incomprehensibly early heatwave right now, though. Bonkers! x

Yes, we had a 25-degree swing the other day. From shorts and sandals at noon to extra blankets on the bed by evening. Bonkers. Truly!

There’s so much to be grateful for today. The Spring bird migration has more or less reached homeostasis. Lots of small, busy songbirds singing and nesting. Red-Shouldered hawks shrieking to make the small birds scatter. I have a back yard bird bath nestled under gardenia bushes (fully leaved and about to bloom) that block the easy view of the tiny birds from the hawks view. A seat at our dining table affords a direct view of the bird bath. A great appetizer for breakfast! “These are a few of my favorite things.” Wishing you an arrival of Summer to please your soul, Linda.

I love these images. Gardenia almost in bloom. Wow. What a heady scent. Love them. Enjoy their perfume when they bloom. We have those small Merlins that pick off song birds. Mother Nature is tough on her creatures at times. Thank you for sharing your backyard with me, Gary.

Thanks, Linda! Our patio table (except during hurricane/tropical storm alerts) is snugged up close to the gardenias. Sigh. A bird bath and proximate mist producing nozzle (Foggit) about 6 feet above ground level help keep the birds hydrated+cool. The tall gardenia bushes and some other tree limbs help conceal the small birds from predator eyes. A heartening sight while enjoying breakfast.

What fun to read! Brings back memories of living at high high-elevation snow country. Summer is beginning here. We are inching daily into the hottest time of the year!

Ooof. I can't say I love the intense heat either. My body has had a broken thermostat for years; I like what I like -- light sweater weather. Thank you Cynthia.
